About Us
About Shoreline Baptist Church
Our Mission
To become the hands and feet of Jesus in our community…
- By bringing the good news...spiritually & practically.
- By providing comfort to the broken.
- By proclaiming freedom to the captives.
- By living in and demonstrating God’s grace.
Our Vision
To be a real church…
ministering to real people…
who are living real life.
Real people come in all shapes and sizes. They come from different cultures and religious backgrounds. They come from varied social and economic background. They all have one thing in common...they need to know and experience the love, mercy, grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. It is our goal to meet these people wherever they may be in life’s journey and share Jesus’ love with them. As a church that is real, we desire to walk alongside them in that journey the will ultimately bring them to the place where they are fully devoted followers of Christ.
Our Core Values
Our Core Values express what we believe is vitally important at Shoreline. We want these values to be the motivation of all that we do.
Grace
We are all about grace. Because of God’s grace we can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Because he has demonstrated his grace to us, we must also treat others with grace. (Rom. 5:8; Matt. 7:12)
Authenticity
We believe that God wants us to be authentic (real/genuine) in both our relationship with Christ and our relationships with others. (Philippians 1:9-10)
Community
Christianity is about relationships. As a New Testament church we believe that God has called us to function as a community that cares for one another, both within and outside the church. (Acts 2:42-47; Philippians 2:3-8)
Accountability
As a Biblical community we must be accountable to each other as a church family. Conduct or beliefs in serious conflict with Biblical truth must be subject to the Biblical guidelines of church discipline. (Matt. 23-24; 18:15-20)
Acceptance
We believe that God loves us and accepts us just the way we we are. Therefore we must love and accept others the same way. (Matt. 9:36; 22:9-10)
Relevance
As a church we want to be relevant to society. Our culture is ever-changing. While our message must never change our methods will change. We must be willing and ready to meet the ever changing needs of those seeking Christ. (1 Cor. 9:19-23; Matt. 5:13-16)
Equipping
Jesus loves us just the way we are, but he doesn’t want us to stay that way. He want us to grow...to mature. As a church it is our responsibility to equip members with the necessary tools all that God want us to become. (Ephesians 4:11-16)
Our Beliefs
The Bible is the Word of God. Both the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired and without error in the original manuscripts. It is the sole authority in matters of faith and practice. (2 Tim. 2:15; 3:16-17; Deut. 6:4-9)
The God of the Bible is the only God. He exists in three persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the Sovereign Creator of all things. (Gen. 1:1-2; John 1:1-18; Colossians 1:15-20)
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and as a consequence, he died both spiritually and physically. All are born sinners and with a sinful nature. (Gen. 1:26-27; 3:1-15; Rom. 3:10-19; 6:23)
God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ as the perfect sacrifice for our sin. Through His death on the cross, and resurrection Christ provided He conquered the power of death and hell. Through Christ and Christ alone man can be reconciled to God. (John 3:16; 14:6; Ephesians 2:1-13)
Jesus Christ is the one and only Head of the church. (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 5:23)
We believe the universal church consists of all persons who have bee reconciled to God through saving faith through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The local church is an assembly of believers that is to function in accordance with principles set forth in the New Testament. It is a body of believers that form a community of faith in all aspects of life. The local church must be relevant to current society. (Acts 2:41-47)
Our Purpose
Our purpose defines why we are here. Our purpose can be summed up in two teachings of Jesus: The Great Commandment (Mark 12:28-31) and The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)
Go
We are called to “go into all the world and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19) We are bring people to a point where they can begin their journey with Christ, and then take Jesus to others in their world.
Grow
We are to be “growing in every way more and more like Christ” (Ephesians 4:15) and helping others in their journey toward maturity.
Serve
We are put on earth to make a contribution...to make a difference. We were created to serve God and we do that by serving one another both spiritually and practically.
Worship
Worship is an act of loving God. It is the submission of all we have and all we are to God. Only as we love God with all we are and have will we love and serve others.
Belonging
God has called us to relationship. The Bible says “it is not good for man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). God wants us to belong to Him through a personal relationship with Christ and then to connect with other Christ followers who are on this same journey.
